"Let me just say this... I am sooooo proud of my mom. Lupus hit her hard all at once in 2016. She was hospitalized for a while and also found out she would have to take Chemo, along with various amounts of medication. During that time I never heard her complain and she never stopped working. She literally had her tablet in the hospital bed with her. She has been talking about putting together this Lupus Awareness Rally/walk for a while now and we finally put it in action! This Rally/walk means so much to her y’all just don’t understand. She witnessed for herself the different struggles financially, mentally and physically through her journey and still does till this day. It’s truly a blessing to have kind hearted people like her in our community. She just wants to give back and help people in any way that she can. We have had so many sponsors and different people to donate to this Cause and I just want to thank everybody for believing and trusting in her. We are honored to be able to give a donation to the Lupus Foundation of America and also hope to be able to bless the ones in our community through their hard times fighting lupus as well. I simply adore my mom for all the hard work she puts in for our community. It’s her own type of hustle and you can’t help but to respect it☺️🤷🏽♀️ I love you mommy and I’ll always have your back!" "Hi, My Name is LaShonda. I was diagnosed with Discoid Lupus in 1999 after being evaluated by my Dr. I woke up one morning and could barley lift my legs. I had no clue to what was going on. I was very fatigued and had achy joints. Many mornings I had to go to work with a swollen face and ankles. My motto is I have Lupus, but Lupus doesn't have me.
I joined the Lupus walk that was organized by Maria Harris in 2019. It was a great event with an amazing group of people. Maria wears many hats and helps out in the community. I appreciate her loving Spirit and help in time of need."
We won't list names, but will share how we have helped our survivors in our community.
